Bhajan Lal Government Hits Back at Opposition Over Paper Leak Issue

The Bhajan Lal government has issued a strong response to the opposition over the paper leak issue, stating that 383 recruitment examinations have been conducted transparently over the past two-and-a-half years. The government also claimed that 17 recruitment exam papers were leaked during the previous Congress government’s tenure, affecting the aspirations of lakhs of job seekers.

Government Highlights Action Against Paper Leaks

Amid renewed protests and public anger over paper leak cases, the Rajasthan government released a detailed statement outlining the steps taken to curb the menace. According to the government, all 383 recruitment examinations held in the last two-and-a-half years were conducted with complete transparency, supported by a strict verification process.

The government alleged that 17 recruitment examination papers were leaked during the previous Congress administration, resulting in severe setbacks for thousands of candidates preparing for government jobs.

569 Arrested in Paper Leak Cases

According to official figures, authorities have so far registered 163 FIRs in paper leak-related cases and arrested 569 accused.

In the Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment irregularities case, 150 people have been arrested, including 71 Sub-Inspectors and other accused. Former RPSC members Babulal Katara and Ramuram Raika have also been taken into custody.

The government further stated that:

• Services of 188 public servants who allegedly secured jobs through fraudulent means have been terminated.
• Appointment orders of 135 Physical Education Teachers (PETs) have been cancelled.
• Investigations are ongoing against 454 government employees.
• Action has also been taken in cases involving OMR sheet manipulation, dummy candidates, and forged documents.

Recruitment Drive Continues

The government said that over 1.78 lakh government appointments have been made in the last two-and-a-half years. Around 1 lakh recruitments are currently under process, while a recruitment calendar for 1.25 lakh new vacancies has already been released.

According to the government, transparency in the recruitment process has improved, public confidence is being restored, and strict action against the paper leak mafia will continue.

Paper leak cases during the tenure of the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government became one of the BJP’s major election issues in the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections. After coming to power, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate paper leak cases. The government says it has followed a “zero tolerance” policy toward paper leaks since taking office.
